Smallholder Standard Pig Ark
Over the years, our Smallholder Standard ark has found it’s way
into the fields of not only pig owners, but increasingly sheep farmers (perfect
at lambing time), wildlife parks where a shelter is needed for all sorts
of exotic animals, and of course poultry farmers for chickens
and other feathered friends. Not having a floor enables it to be
used for animals where cleaning out floors is just not viable on a regular
basis. You simply move the ark on a few feet, and burn or compost
the bedding that’s left underneath. Many of our standard
arks are bought by farmers who leave them in place as a shelter for their
sheep or goats year in, year out. And we have lost count of the
number of people who have bought the Standard ark for their woodland
pigs, where more often than not, their bedding is no more than the surrounding
bracken. Made to the same high specification as the other arks,
and easier to lift that the 2in1 ark, it is an ideal ark for moving around
the fields, or as a start up ark for 2 or more weaners.
This ark is perfect also for adapting to customers own specifications. For
past customers, we have added wire floors (for chickens), cut out an
entrance in the back panel as well as the front for smallholders who
wanted it to straddle across two fields, made the entrance wider to accommodate
goats with horns. In fact we will try and carry out any requirement
as long as it doesn’t effect the strength of the ark.
For European sales, Smallholder Standard arks are normally
dispatched flat-packed with excellent instructions and diagram for self-assembly.

"Just
a quick note to say thanks so much! The standard 8' x 6' pig
arc we purchased six months ago for our two Glouster Old Spots
has been ideal! We were a bit concerned when selecting a house
for them because we are located on the Isle of Skye and can be
subject to high winds and adverse weather throughout the year.
The arc has been brillant; providing a warm and dry shelter for
our pigs and never moving an inch in the wind!
Additionally, our 3 Toggenburg goats share pasture space with the
pigs and the goats have also found the arc to be very much to their
liking! We thought the arc would turn into a playpen for the goats,
as they love climbing. Much to our amusement, we spent the first day
watching the largest of the goats fight to climb on top of the arc.
With no success, he gave up and is now content to join the pigs inside.
Now that we have separate pasture space for the goats and after
seeing how versatile the arcs are, we are planning to purchase another
one for the goats.
Thank you for such a fine product. It is very reassuring to know
the animals are all safe and dry on the cold, wet, windy nights!"
