Why Us?

Bidgiemire Arks, built with boisterous pigs in mind, designed with strength and finished with care.

We are a one stop shop for pig owners and supply everything from the pig to the fencing, handling equipment to books.

  • We use only top quality materials such as exterior stainless steel screws and pressure treated tannilised high grade timber sourced from environmentally managed forests for the construction of our arks.  We do not accept any materials from our suppliers that do not meet our high standards.
  • Where possible, we deliver the arks flat-packed, so no matter where you require the ark, be it woods or the side of mountains,  WE WILL PLACE AND ASSEMBLE THE ARK WHERE YOU WANT IT, NOT WHERE CONDITIONS DICTATE, unlike pre-assembled arks that are cumbersome and difficult to manoeuvre if the position required is not by a track or road.
  • Our arks are suitable for most livestock that need shelter, from farmstock, to exotic creatures in wildlife parks.
  • The Bidgiemire Pig Co are the original designers of the 2in1 ark with the detachable floor, a godsend to pig owners. Don’t buy copies, if your 2in1 has not got the bidgiemire name on, its a copy
  • Our Introductory Day Courses give you a thorough understanding of what is required to look after pigs, and won’t break the bank.
  • Our weaners are from good quality registered show stock, and all weaners are birth notified with the BPA.  We also offer a free advisory service for our customers who have bought weaners off us. Delivery to all parts of the country is possible.
  • We have excellent contacts within the pig world, and if we can’t supply a particular breed, we can put you in touch with other quality breeders.
  • Most of our weaner and ark sales come from customer and breeder recommendations.

For two weaners, we normally suggest an 8x6.  Yes, you can get away with an 6x4 thus saving you money, but we know from experience that many people regret buying such a small ark, it does limit anything you want to do with pigs in the future.  If you are sure you will only ever keep two weaners for the freezer at any one time, then a 6x4 is perfect for you.  But if you think there is the possibility of breeding or keeping one of the pigs on longer for bacon, then we strongly suggest you buy an 8x6. An 8x6 or larger ark is more versatile and it will save you money in the long run should you decide to buy in more pigs or even breed.

Some of the comments found about Bidgiemire on forums and sites on the web

......we bought a cheap ark, thinking we were saving money (besides they all look the same on the web)  and plus the fact that we didn’t have much dosh at the time.  It lasted a year then fell apart, We bought a bidgiemire on a neighbours recommendation a few months later and we still have it five years on still doing its job. A typical example I suppose of you get what you pay for.  The first ark is lying rotting a the corner of a field, home to our numerous rats probably!

I think you have chosen wisely if you are going for the 2in 1 arc from Bidgiemire. It will meet all your requirements and will ensure you have happy healthy pigs. Please let us know when you get everything set up and keep us informed as your pig keeping venture develops.

I quite agree with blairshill, and the others Bidgiemire pig arcs are really very good. From my point of view as a sitter an arc which makes it easier to clean really does help and even more so for the owner, along with ones that fit well together to help keep draughts out, also means less straw is needed, as the pig doesnt have to pile it high all round the sides. Bidgiemire pig arcs are tested out by their herd which includes Tamworths and Large black (plus a few others, whilst i sat there) both being a big breed and one slightly more destructive then the other, yet the arcs stood there ground, and didnt even budge slighty when used as a scratching post by several pigs at a time.. the pig inside looked very safe and secure.

I have a Bidgimere too…..in very wet conditions….......and its great…..the pigs have a choice of that, a home made one or indoors and always are to be found in the Bidgiemere!!!
