Major Change

Posted by Linda on 01/21

We are pleased to report that due to our other commitments and interests, Tom our derbyshire agent is taking over the majority of orders.  For many of our customers who think we have gone a bit quiet, we have!!!! Advertising in the main is now done from Little Morton Farm as part of Tom’s company, although Graham takes over when necessary if Tom is busy.  Because we are both working on other projects and away quite alot,  we have made the decision to just concentrate on Scotland. My writing is taking up most of my time (I am now writing for Farmers Guardian as well as a host of other magazines and newspapers) and Graham is spending more and more time on other projects that he has an interest in such as consultancy work to do with pigs and off-roading.  We still have pigs for sale but are downsizing the amount of pigs we have at any one time and running one-to-one courses rather than large groups.

We are honoured that Bidgiemire has become the top pig ark company for smallholders and where we are today, we could not have got here without our loyal customers, many of whom come back year and year.  I want to thank all those customers who have recommended us above other ark companies. Tom is off course committed to carrying on the Bidgiemire name and its quality in England whilst any orders in Scotland will be carried out by us.  We have had fun and delivered to many celebrities as well as politicians and even royality.  Summer 09 was especially fun with appearances on satalitte tv and radio (and more are planned) and it seemed Bidgiemire was never out of the news which of course was very beneficial to orders.

And to be honest, we are tired.  Graham regularly travels down to the south of England as well as up around Scotland delivering arks and of course I am left to carry on with Bidgiemire, the b&b, the animals etc etc so the whole family needs a rest.

We will still be involved with shows and we are still sponsoring the Builth Wells Pig Championship and possibly the pork classes again as well as the junior classes.

The type and quality of arks will still stay the same as will the starter kit with the BPA subscription. To get in touch with Tom at Little Morton Farm, his number is 07944616590.

Piggy Skye

Pig Keeping is on the up in Scotland.  We have seen a huge increase in arks going to Skye and the other islands. It great that slowly Scotland is catching up on keeping pigs with England.

Sky News

Bidgiemire appeared on Sky News on Saturday the 12th of September.  Great Fun, they spent a couple of hours with us for 4 minutes filming.  The weather was fantastic and they filmed against a backdrop of the hills and of course our piglets. The piece went out at 1.20 that day.  We made sure that the Bidgiemire name was very visable, well you have to make the most of an opportunity!!!! The feature also showed one of our customers in Cornwall with her pigs and our arks.
