The Bidgiemire Pig Company (formally Bidgiemire Pig Arcs) first came into being about four years ago when it was decided that the time had come to start housing our Gloucester Old Spot sows in something a bit more permanent than a straw shelter.  After looking around for a company that built arks, and falling over with shock at their prices, an executive decision was taken to build some.  The first ark that Graham (my husband, the designer and co-owner of the business) built is best forgotten about, but the quality improved as well as the designs.  Four years from that first ark, we are proud of the fact that Bidgimire has become the leading supplier of pig arks and pig equipment, not only to the smallholder, but to city farms, county councils, pig judges, private estates, agricultural colleges, wildlife parks, and celebrities.  Our insulated arks are even found as far away as the Caribbean.

It was a natural progression after a couple of years of selling arks, to then start selling weaners and pig equipment.  We no longer keep GOS, instead have moved over to Berkshire, Oxford Sandy and Blacks, Large Blacks, and Tamworths, which are all herd registered, and the offspring birth notified.  As smallholders ourselves, we have chosen equipment that we ourselves need and use on a regular basis.  To this end, we can speak with authority and advise on any item that we sell.  Our selection of books and DVD’s are ones that we feel would be of most help to people not only keeping pigs for their own benefit, but also for those brave souls who wish to have a go at financing their pig project by selling the meat.  We are always open to ideas, and if we are not selling something that you think would be popular with pig owners, then please let us know, and we would look at adding it to the range.

Until recently, we were known as Bidgiemire Pig Arcs, but decided to change it recently to The Bidgiemire Pig Co, as it was felt the name wasn’t doing justice to our wide range of equipment, pigs etc. that we sell.  It was very sad to make that decision but decided the old adage “move with the times” was appropriate in this instance.

We believe very strongly in quality and customer satisfaction.  A Bidgiemire ark is not an “off the peg” ark, each ark is made to order and to exact customer specification.  Our beautifully crafted arks are delivered personally by Graham or by one of our qualified approved agents, to ensure a glitch free delivery.  The result is a quality, heavy duty ark that fits yours and your pigs’ requirement exactly, and at an extremely competitive price.

For those of you who live in a conservation area or have neighbours that might object to your arks, you have the option to cover the ark in green plastic coated sheets, ensuring the ark is as aesthetically pleasing to the eye as it is functional.
